Science Project! Grade 4 Use this 20 minute video as a stand alone introduction to the science fair or use it with the popular video, "Your Science Project" (#202) to increase the understanding of the assignment and improve the quality of your projects. All students in the program are 4th graders and all projets are either demonstrations or experiments. Learn how wind can be used to create electricity, see how a flashlight works, what makes a submarine sink and how to make a simple compass. Experimental topics include a consumer comparison of diapers, and an interesting evaluation of bubble soap. See how Kim discovered that commercials really are
louder than the TV programs as we follow her from start to finish on her project. |

Science Project! Grade 5 This 22 minute video shows demonstrations and experimental type projects and supports it's complementary video, "Your Science Project" (#202). See demonstrations of how a motor, record player, and seismograph work. Learn how to make a pinhole comera and how to turn a simple demonstration into an experiment! Ten students are interviewed and all are 5th graders. Experimental topics include "Testing for Iron in Drinks" and "The Mystery of Reflection". Your students will see how a project is developed and
how its quality and accuracy can be improved by watching Adrienne as she completes her
project titled "Can Fingers Be Used As Eyes?" |

Science Project! Grade 6 This 23 minute video is expressly for 6th graders and shows demonstration and experimental type projects. It also works well with it's complementary video, "Your Science Project" (#202). See a Venus Fly Trap, learn about reflection, distillation and the center of gravity. Experimental topoics literally "span" from the complex topic of "Which Bridge Design Works Best", to a simple observational color analysis of M&M candies. With this video and the teacher lesson plans that accompany it (see below), you will be encouraged to try two of the experiments in class. Find out how to improve your experiment by increasing the sample size and controlling the variables. And finally, see how a proect is developed from start
to finish by following David as he completes his project in photography. |
